Begin with one surface
An uncluttered workspace does not require a complete reset. One folder, one desktop, or one list can be a manageable starting point.
Keep the items needed for the current task easy to reach. Give everything else a place where it can be found later.
Name things for the next visit
A descriptive filename is a small kindness to a future reader. A consistent pattern can be as simple as:

2026-10-02-reading-notes.md
2026-10-01-small-ideas.md
Use a system that is easy to understand without a guide. If maintaining it becomes more work than using it, simplify it.
Stop when it is useful
Organization is a means to make something easier. It does not have to become a project of its own.
